Deadmen Score New CBC/Radio-Canada Series Malgré Moi
The Radio-Canada / ICI TOU.TV EXTRA series leans into romantic candor — and a score that’s resonating with audiences.
A new wave of francophone series is putting regional identity front and centre — and Malgré moi is making its case with a format that feels as intimate, confessional, and uninhibited as it’s main character.
Set against the backdrop of Winnipeg’s francophone community and framed by a turbulent Winnipeg-to-Montréal flight, the four-part series follows Daphné (Schelby Jean-Baptiste) as she tries to make sense of a relationship that brought her west, and broke her open. The show’s storytelling unfolds through voice, memory, and movement with the series using its score as an emotional compass, guiding viewers through Daphné’s inner world.
The series’ score is the latest in a run of new composition work from Deadmen, whose recent credits also include Apple’s new iPhone spot, LEGO’s “Hello!” campaign, new records for Begonia and Ashleigh Ball, and a substantial body of music for This American Life.
